Mumbai: On Monday, the central team appointed by the union government issued seven key recommendations to the civic body amidst the rising cases of measles. With 126 confirmed cases, the team asked the BMC to increase patient admission facilities, educate health workers, and carry out additional vaccination sessions. Meanwhile, the city count is suspected to be inching toward the 1000 mark (908 cases).

The high-level central team, comprising Dr. Anubhav Srivastava, deputy director of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Dr. Shubhangi Kulsange, deputy director at the National Centre for Disease Control, and Dr. Viswas Chhapola, a pediatrician, recommended daily surveillance of new patients with fever and rashes. They also stated that symptomatic patients should be monitored the following day.

In the meeting with the BMC’s additional commissioner and principal secretary, the team advised the civic board to inform private doctors about the disease and the availability of vaccinations.
